Tigard Food Project Collection

Sunday, December 8th | 10:00 am

As part of our commitment to end hunger and food insecurity in our community, Rise Church is involved in the Tigard Food Project / Green Bag Sunday. Last month we collected over 500 pounds of food and $1000 was donated. Our next TFP Sunday is December 8th. Please bring your canned goods and other durable food items before the 10:00 am service.

Volunteers will be available to help you unload or carry your green bag with food items into the church. Following the service, we will gather in Fellowship Hall for the weighing and blessing of the food. Or, if more convenient, drop off your green bag  during the week, M-F, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, the main office.

If you need a green bag, pick one up the next couple Sundays or drop by the office where they are available.  In addition to collecting food, donors also have the option of making a financial gift. Area food pantries have agreements with local grocery stores that enable them to purchase more food than any of us can buy with the same amount. And it allows them to purchase the food that is needed, since they know what is in short supply on their shelves.

  • Any financial gift will pass through Rise Church bookkeeping and then split between the local food pantries.
  • Cash with a note or checks made out to "Rise Church" with the memo "Tigard Food Project" are welcome and can be sent or dropped off at the church.
  • In addition, you may make a donation through the Rise Church online giving portal: Tigard Food Project.

Since I am in the choir, I want to share words from two of the songs you will be hearing this month. "I was created to serve" and "I must care, I must share." The words have touched my heart, and I hope yours too.The need continues, so please care, share and remember October 13th to bring your food and monetary donations.

Blessings,
